Constructed in the year 1612, the Sinquerim Fort is situated on the shores of the Sinquerim beach. This magnificent monument divides the shore of Sinquerim into two. This Sinquerim monument is an extension of the upper part of the Aguda Fort. The lower portion of this fort was used to anchor ships and consists a bastion where a section of fortified wall is present on both sides.
This monument was originally built as a defense against the threat of the Marathas, Rajputs and the Dutch. Vessels coming from Europe used this fort as a reference point. From atop the extension you can see the vast Arabian Sea stretching over the horizon.
The golden sands sprawled across the Sinquerim beach which are lapped by the warmth of the Arabian Sea is a delightful sight for the eyes. If you are standing on one side of the shore in Sinquerim, you have to cross the monument to reach the other side.
From a bird’s eye view, this monument stands majestically over the shores of Sinquerim and lapped by the waves of the Arabian Sea.
